Not cool! You said rifles you wouldn’t trust on a hunt, again not cool. With the X-bolt you picked a rifle in the cal. you wanted in a light weight rifle, first you said the trigger was heavy, what,it’s adjustable.i have an X-bolt & I know many others with X-bolts all with exceptional triggers! Why didn’t you add a suppressor? Sounds to me your complaints were of your own doing not the rifles, you can’t group a exceptional rifle with rifles that had manufacturing issues.Again the 13 lb. rifle, you knew it was 13 lbs.when you bought it then you complain when it’s heavy DAAA! Did you expect it would loose weight? This video makes you sound like a baby who blames others for your issues! Not Cool!

so now, do you understand the saying "it aint what you don't know that gets you in trouble, it's what you think you know for sure that just ain't so". you said what ron spomer said didn't make sense to you, and typically, you would just ignore it. do you realize now that, as smart as people are, that in itself isn't enough to come to a correct conclusion? this is why there are so many incorrect beliefs in the gun industry.

I have always been confused about your concern with feeding the gun before you shoot. I live in Kentucky and a Marine that spent my whole life hunting and shooting guns.We simply load a round and put firearm on safety before entering the hunt area or hot zone. Is it your local laws that require waiting till you are ready to shoot to chamber a round?

I’d like to see you do this with 5 shot groups, 3 shots is pretty questionable for testing accuracy. 10 shots would be better still. A cold barrel first shot would also be a good addition as it ells you more about what’s likely to happen when hunting.

I watched the 30-06 video where you mentioned the call out and immediately came here to have my suspicions confirmed. Over confidence with military vets and shooting is so common it’s ridiculous. I was Army infantry for 6 years and spent a lot of time shooting in training and a fair amount shooting in combat. It took me two years to really get proficient enough with rifle marksmanship where I could consistently qualify expert, but that “expert” qualification is a lot different than precision shooting. That’s practical accuracy where you’re proficient enough to hit a 3 foot silhouette at varying distances from 25-300 36 out of 40 times. This is more about confidence and suppression than it is threading a needle. The marines are especially big on the confidence factor and you’ll almost always hear them trash army marksmanship because they shoot to 500 instead of 300 for their qual. What they don’t tell you is that 500 target is the size of a damn jeep. Again, it’s an exercise in building confidence in the weapon system and self more than a game of precision shooting. There are certainly precision shooters in the military. I once had an opportunity to share some range time with a former CAG guy that absolutely horrified me witnessing what he could do. Rangers, SEALs , MARSOC, SF, and even snipers in regular infantry units get specialized training and trigger time that do make them capable precision shooters. But since I’ve been shooting as a civilian for the last 8 years, I’ve seen many marksmen in my local community who are more capable of precise shooting than a lot of guys I served with. All that to say, I respected your channel before this because you always give in depth and seemingly unbiased information. After this I respect you for giving this guy an opportunity to put his money where his mouth was and being gracious enough not to just rip him constantly when he clearly failed to live up to his own hype. Although he did fall on his face a bit, props to him for being man enough to at least attempt to do it also.

At age 16 and at 500 Yards, I managed to get a 3" group with 6 of my seven scoring shots on target. I was a little irritated as my two sighting shots had been about 2.5 MOA above and left of the bull, the first scoring shot was only half way between the 'Outer" where the first two shots hit and the Bull (I had forgot that the sights had a 0.25' correction and only corrected half as much as I should) From there on, I proceeded to shoot out Five spotting disks on the target, in the Bullseye, I know this, because each time the target reappeared after scoring, the disk was in the same place on the target and a different shape! The marking time was also getting longer and longer, as the crew had to find replacements! I scored 33/35. Oh and I would like to add that the rifle was a basic No.4 with target sights affixed, none of this resting or tripod shit

Interesting piece of history on army marksmanship. Back before the world wars, the military had some fantastically accurate shooters. Training was done on bullseye style targets with an emphasis placed on accuracy, but they found soldiers had a problem with freezing up against an actual human combatant. The army switched to a silhouette style target, which helped the mental aspect of engaging the enemy but accuracy began to suffer. There have been numerous attempts to meld the two styles of shooting together over the years, but like anything else in the military, it’s had mixed results. There are a lot of things in the army’s inventory that can help but I’m not sure how many units take full advantage of them.

There are also so many different loads, bullets-factory ammo on the market that you have endless choices compared to these others that have less than 10 options and a lot of you PRC options you only have less than 5 options and ammo is expensive.

You have an issue with your calculations when you're calculating out the 2,000 ft and how how far a round can go based off its caliber because when you're doing hand loads you can bump it up if you know your weapon and you know your casings as we've seen on some videos. Those measurements you are looking at are very conservative so if these people are running hot loads many of those might be able to drop elk out past 700 yards.

The army kept it simple. Looking back seems they were drilling us for 1moa accuracy. They didn't get into all of it, simply had a target 100m out they wanted us to run 3 shot groups and span with a quarter. Instead of a micrometer or anything, hold a quarter up and see if it touched all 3 holes. The quick and dirty way, a quarter is just under 1" diameter. 100m is around 109-110y.

How would it be if we took the Weatherby rpm case and necked it to 7mm dia. It would still fit in a standard long action but have a little more capacity than the 280 Ackley and still be narrower than the 7mm Rem mag and possibly be able to fit an extra round in the Magazine depending upon which action you use.
